Art of Hosting Participatory Leadership – Join Us

Nearly every November for the past eight years I have journeyed to Bowen Island, close to Vancouver BC, for the Art of Hosting. We are readying to once again welcome a group for this annual learning event on November 11 to 14, 2018.

Last year, Scott Macklin came and made a beautiful 12 minute video capturing the experience. Have a watch.

And below is a bit more information about what we offer at this particular Art of Hosting. We have room for a few more folks to join us and welcome you to consider coming, and to share this invitation with others.

The Art of Hosting Meaningful Conversations and Participatory Leadership
Bowen Island, British Columbia  November 11 to 14, 2018

People are hungry for more effective meetings and practices for working better together amidst times of rapid change and high complexity.

We are awakening to different ways of being in leadership together, moving beyond the typical traps of adversarial agendas and into processes of co-learning and co-evolution that lead to wise action and change. We are seeking consultative processes and engagement strategies that bring out the best in our communities and foster collaboration. That’s what the Art of Hosting is all about.

The Art of Hosting Meaningful Conversations and Participatory Leadership is an intensive 3-day learning experience where you will practice a set of simple yet powerful approaches for designing and hosting (facilitating) powerful conversations, engagement processes and meetings. It is an effective way of harnessing the collective wisdom and self-organizing capacity of groups. We believe that people give their energy and lend their resources to what matters most to them – in work as in life. These practices invite people to step in and respond to the challenges facing them in creative, authentic, innovative and effective ways.

Groups, organizations and communities using the Art of Hosting practices report better decision-making, more innovation, greater ability to quickly respond to opportunity, challenge and change and improved relationship quality. People who experience the Art of Hosting typically say that they walk away feeling more inspired and empowered and more able to help guide the meetings and conversations they are part of to move towards desirable outcomes.

Participants are local, regional and international and share a desire to stretch their own learning edge and connect with others in the field.  We bring together community, government, and business leaders, social entrepreneurs, next generation leaders together from many dedicated networks and efforts – building our individual and shared capacity in our communities and organizations to address the challenges of these times.
